Taste of Oriental Cooking is a project that Chef Alyssa Han developed after years of running a restaurant. Students have been both customers in China and people generally interested in oriental cookery. Thai cooking classes started as promotional incentives to regular customers and have been held in Alyssa's and her students' kitchens.

Classes in Finland are arranged in Helsinki Metropolitan Area in customers' home kitchens. In "Taste of Oriental Cooking" classes you can learn how to make 3-5 Thai, Chinese or Vietnamese courses + dessert as a set dinner. Cost of ingredients and transportation to the selected venue is added to course fee.

Valentine’s Cooking Class for Couples

These 3 classes of Thai cooking in Shanghai are limited to 2 people per class only and they are held Jan 4 - Feb 9, 2010. It is my pre-Valentine's Day promotion for students to know how to cook Thai dishes for someone you love.

Every day 2 menus of these top ten dishes:
  • Glass noodle salad
  • Fish cakes
  • BBQ pork Thai salad
  • Papaya salad
  • Chicken Satay
  • Tom Yam Tom Ka soup
  • Green curry chicken
  • Massaman curry
  • Phad Thai
  • Pineapple rice
Price is 1500 RMB for one class per couple incl. all Thai ingredients. For bookings, a 50 % deposit is required. Khob Khun Ka and keep on cooking Thai food. ;)


Spring/Summer 2009 Thai Cooking Show

Since I have often been asked for cooking classes, I decided to have a weekend show at my restaurant starting Saturday March 21. The demonstration is combined with spring/summer food promotion that takes place every weekend at Brasserie Alyssa, No. 29 Lane 248, Taikang Lu, Shanghai. Whenever you feel like having Thai food at my restaurant, you will also have a chance to learn about cooking Thai food and to get a free dish from the demonstration while you are dining.

Schedule:

  • March 21 - 22 (2 pm - 5 pm): Green papaya and carrot salad (Som Tam)
  • March 28 - 29: Glass noodle salad with minced pork (Yam Woon Sen)
  • April 4 - 5: Spicy mixed apple salad (Yam apple)
  • April 11 - 12: Thai long bean salad with coconut, peanut dressing (Yam Tuo Ruam)
